Alabama Unemployment Rate Remains SteadyAlabama’s unemployment rate remains steady at 11 percent and giving hope to the economic experts that the painful rise in unemployment may be over.
State Industrial Relations Director Tom Surtees announced Friday that unemployment in Alabama for the month of April was 11 percent, same as in March. During the last six months the rate is between 10.9 percent and Alabama are 11.1 percent.
“Although I am not ready to call the leveling of the unemployment trend, we are cautiously optimistic that the increase in unemployment has ceased, and we eventually a decline,” said Surtees.
