DPWH official killed in Cebu ambush

An official of the Department of Public Works and Highways was shot dead in an ambush near his home in Cebu City Thursday night.

Radio dzBB's Cebu affiliate reported early Friday that DPWH Central Visayas Engineer Ciriaco Salazar, 49, died from three gunshot wounds in the chest.

Salazar's wife Dolores, who was with Salazar in a vehicle when they were attacked, was unhurt. Mrs. Salazar is also a DPWH employee.

The attack occurred at about 7 p.m. Thursday as the victim neared his house in Bacayan village.

Police are now looking for the gunman and a partner, who pulled off the ambush aboard a motorcycle.

Investigators are still looking into the motive of the attack.
